chicken palak recipe

Chicken palak is a popular Indian dish made with boneless chicken pieces cooked in a creamy spinach (palak) gravy. Here's a simple recipe for chicken palak:

Ingredients:

  • 500g boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 cups fresh spinach leaves, washed and chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 2-3 green chillies, chopped
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them crackle for a few seconds.

  2. Add chopped onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green chillies. Saute for a few minutes until the onions are soft and translucent.

  3. Add boneless chicken pieces to the pan and saute for 5-6 minutes until the chicken is browned on all sides.

  4. Add coriander powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt. Mix well.

  5. Add chopped spinach leaves and 1/4 cup of water to the pan. Mix well and cover the pan. Cook for 10-15 minutes until the spinach is wilted and the chicken is cooked through.

  6. Remove the pan from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.

  7. Using a blender or a hand blender, puree the chicken and spinach mixture until it is smooth and creamy.

  8. Return the puree to the pan and add water as needed to adjust the consistency. Simmer for a few minutes until heated through.

  9. Serve hot with rice or naan bread. Enjoy!
